Alderwood Little League has been supporting the youth of our community for over 50 years. The league is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization lead by an elected Board of Directors that administer the league in line with established by-laws and International Little League policies and procedures. Hundreds of additional volunteers assist by coordinating divisions of play, organizing events (such as fundraising, AlderGear, uniforms, etc.), concessions and coaching.

Alderwood Little League Baseball and Softball offers up to six levels of play: T-Ball (co-ed division); Rookie; Farm (Baseball only); AAA; Majors; Juniors; and Seniors. T-ball through Majors Baseball and all levels of Softball play on a 60-foot diamond. Junior Baseball may play on an 80-foot or 90-foot diamond, and play at the Senior level is on a 90-foot diamond.

Alderwood Little League and Little League Baseball and Softball Incorporated has established age cutoffs to ensure players develop appropriately in terms of skills, knowledge, and sportsmanship. Rules and pitching levels are scaled to the age and ability of the players.

The objective of Alderwood Little League shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of great sportsmanship, honesty, courage, and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger, and happier children and will grow to be great, decent, healthy, and trustworthy citizens. This objective is in direct compliance with the mission of Little League, Inc.

To achieve this objective, Alderwood Little League will provide a supervised program under the rules of Little League Baseball, Incorporated. All Directors, Officers and Members shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of games is secondary. The molding of future citizens is of prime importance.

The Board of Directors, volunteers elected by the membership of our league, provides the leadership of the league. The board meets regularly, throughout the fall, winter, and spring months to plan and oversee the league operations.

1948 - Alderwood Manor Youth Club (AMYC) is formed by area civic leaders to provide an organization dedicated to supporting youth activities

1959 - Alderwood Athletic Association (AAA) is formed.  AAA organizes soccer, baseball, basketball & football activities for the youth of South Snohomish County

c. 1961 - AMYC is relocated from what is now the intersection of 196th St/I-5 to the current location.  Fields 1 & 2 are constructed on current site. Trivia:  Did you know that the Field 1 backstop used to be about 20 feet closer the current snack shack, and the snack shack was located in Left Field!

1986 - Lights are installed on Fields 1 & 2.  A few months later, a wind storm knocks a pole over into left field.  This same season, Alderwood Little League hosts the first annual Marge Sweet Memorial Tournament in honor of Marge Sweet - the first woman umpire in Alderwood Little League!

1992 - The existing Boys & Girls Club undergoes a renovation/addition of the lower level gym, game room, computer room & offices.  AMYC enters into a 50 year lease with the Boys & Girls Club and they assume the responsibility for Soccer and Basketball programs.

Trivia:  The lease actually contains a clause stating the Boys & Girls Club cannot run a baseball/T-Ball program out of this location!

1994 -  Alderwood Little League is incorporated as a non-profit entity in the State of Washington.  AAA is effectively dissolved. Alderwood Little League is now solely focused on Baseball and Softball.

2006 - Field 3 is completed after a five year construction project.

2009 - Alderwood Little League celebrates 50 years of Serving the Youth of the communities of Brier, Bothell, Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace

Trivia Fact: Alderwood Little League is one of the oldest Chartered Little Leagues in Western United States

Today - AMYC disolved in 2013, with the Boys and Girls Club taking over ownership of the property. Alderwood Little League maintains exclusive use of the ball fields for a minimum of 50 years.

Community. Alderwood Little League provides baseball and softball programs for the youth of our community. Alderwood Little League strives to develop the players into quality citizens of our community through the avenue of baseball and softball instruction.

Everyone Plays. The structure of Little League provides for the opportunity of all youth in our community to participate in our program. T-ball and Minor level Baseball and Softball programs provide instructional play for all skill levels. Major, Junior, and Big League divisions provide competitive play with advanced skill level of instruction.

Safety. Safety is important in Little League. All volunteers must submit to criminal and sexual background checks. Quick release bases are required for game play, designed to reduce injury during base running. Baseball pitch count rules, based on independent research, protect the development of young arms. New bat regulations are founded in research which identifies bats that maintain the BTF factor during use, additionally provide a safer environment for our players.

Affordable. Alderwood Little League is committed to managing the cost to the players who participate in our programs such that they are affordable to all. Community sponsorships off-set the operational costs of the program. Scholarships provided funding for those experiencing financial difficulties.
