Equipment
Players should arrive at their first practice with the following essentials: a glove, hat or visor, baseball/softball pants or shorts, and rubber cleats (metal cleats are allowed only for league-age 13 and up). A baseball/softball bag is recommended for transporting balls, bats, batting gloves, water bottles, and other personal items. If the budget allows, the league may provide one bat per team, or players may share their personal bats. When purchasing a bat, please consider the following, but ensure you visit the Little League's
website for the most up-to-date information.
A quality leather glove is essential. Avoid vinyl or simulated leather gloves, which are difficult to form and often result in balls popping out, causing frustration for the player.
Uniform
Each player’s uniform consists of baseball or softball pants/shorts, a belt, a jersey, and baseball or softball socks. Alderwood Little League provides a hat or visor and a jersey. Players are responsible for providing their own pants/shorts, belt, and socks. Managers may recommend specific colors for these items.
-
Lower divisions (T-ball, Rookie, Farm, Minor): The jersey and hat/visor are the player’s to keep.
-
Upper divisions (Majors, Junior, Senior, Big League): Players must return their jersey each year. (A deposit is required for distribution of upper-level jerseys.)
Because jerseys provide minimal warmth, it is recommended that players wear a long-sleeve baseball/softball shirt underneath. Note: Baseball pitchers may not wear white sleeves. All players should bring a windbreaker, jacket, or sweatshirt to every game and practice to stay warm in cooler conditions.
